I am reading this book on the early families who were banished by England to Australia.

Thursday Challenge: Soft sand

I wanted a sand pit in urban Singapore. I got the husband to carry sacks of beautiful pristine white soft sand up three storeys to our balcony.  When I saw him carrying these sacks, I realised what a soft heart he had for his son. I told him, there was enough sand. I was afraid, the sacks would break his back. Not a job for a uni professor.

ABC Wednesday Letter W for wool

 from sheep you get wool
and do some knitting. This doll is more than 24 years old. When my late son was in ICU, some kind ladies knitted a whole lot of dolls. My oldest child kept hers and it traveled all over the world with her.
these are not real wool, my talented friend made cake decoration.

photohunt: Azure

The PhotoHunt for today is Azure ~ learned a new word today. Azure means the blue sky of a summer day.
In Auckland, there is a saying: There are 4 seasons in a day.  A Kunming lantern landed on my garden. It brought me good luck.

ABC Wednesday: Umbrellas

some people believe opening an umbrella inside the house is bad luck. For the Chinese, a bride should always have an umbrella over her head when she is outdoors traveling from her house to the groom's house.

Not sure about these umbrellas hanging upside down. My boss hung an umbrella like this in my teaching space. I am a Christian, so I don't believe in this.

Couple of times, the wind was so strong, it blew my umbrella the other way round.

Thursday Challenge: Important

Violence Free Waitakere creates family focused events that are both fun and free, while promoting great parenting at the same time.  We develop and facilitate effective projects and resources, which promote violence prevention in our own community and beyond. We are at the heart of collaborative projects that not only outreach, but build lasting community resilience. Empowering, engaging and networking with a multitude of agencies enables a brighter future for our community and their families.
We invite you to browse our site to learn more our organisation, our projects and events.

Robyn Brady-Operations Manager

Robyn comes from a  strong business  background combined with both Community Centre and Event management for an Auckland Council contracted YMCA facility. She is very passionate about community support and networking, project coordinating and managing operational systems within this great organisation.

Robyn sings in my church, Mt Albert Baptist Church. I don't have a close-up photo of her, but I have photos of the  day she and I went on a working  bee to plant the garden at the Mt Albert YMCA. I went back this April and saw the ferns growing.

Children's well being in IMPORTANT to me.
